This is my William, seventh generation Newport, Rhode Island living with
Glioblastoma (GBM), Stage 4, brain cancer.
The initial chemotherapist stated that he may live three months without treatment.
He does not qualify for SSI or SSDI and has NO INCOME.
He received palliative care for six months since the diagnosis.
He is surviving for more than two years now with GBM.
Daily pain from the top of his head, to the soles of his feet are difficult to see him endure.
He had no choice than to retire from his self taught, and successful interior, exterior, and floral design career.
He and I fall within EXTREMELY LOW income according to equal opportunity housing. We know that housing lists long. We are years away from getting into equal opportunity housing anywhere in the US. We desire to stay in Bristol, RI.
William helps caregiving responsibilities to his mother, Swan, who has her own medical struggles.
He has a loan on a vehicle that costs ore than $900 a month, due to a low credit score and interest in the amount of more than 30%. We need a large to extra large SUV or Large Truck that is reliable and safe with low milage that is paid off. This will help ensure minimal repairs and the ability to pay registration, insurance, and travel costs.
His dream is to visit Biltmore Estate during the Winter holiday season. Unfortunately, he is unable to make trips outside of RI due to his excellent medical professionals and his fatigue and constant pain.
He would like to have a vacation, to spend quality time with his husband and dog. His mother, during this vacation, would have to stay with chosen family who will ensure minimal stress levels for all involved, as well as, give the love, compassion, empathy, and safety that any older adult deserves.
We are greatful for our current rental, as it give us a home to share love and have loving moments of memories of the past. However, it is on the second floor, has a smaller than average shower stall in the one bathroom, two bedroom apartment. The basement ceiling is lower than his height. He forgot to duck (which is funny for Duck Duck) and took out a light bulb while walking with extreme pain hunched down. He is over 6' tall. The internal stairs are narrow and steep to reach all levels, as laundry is in the basement.
He, and his chosen family, his mother and love of his life, (Swan & Goose) have more than $100,000.00 of debt.
William does as much as he can, and sometimes too much, to live a better life. More than one year has passed by watching a five year old smart television, with less than adequate quality, both visually and audibly.
We have two storage units that MUST GO. Help with this by volunteering your time to help sort and catalog the items for donations for the family. Spotted hyenas, (strong people who identify as female) strong like bull men, or any strong being that could help are encouraged to reach out. Items will be listed and shared once cataloged. Requested donations are appreciated.
Donate your unused gift cards or gift certificates to the nest (my chosen family), as my biological immediate family have all gone to the next level.
Almost every month, he donates items to the East Bay Food Pantry Thrift Store. Donate your unused items to them, as all proceeds go back into the paid staff and food for the East Bay Food Pantry. Volunteering your time there is also appreciated.
He was abused inappropriately by adults when he was a child, by children in the school system in a time where adults just turned their heads and did not advocate or stand up for him, and taken advantage of by many. Former 'family' including cousins and siblings, 'friends' (the most recent, a teenage acquaintance that purchased a home William and I called home for more than four years) who kicked us out in 2023 because of greed and lack of compassion. One of the most recent was a lawsuit, with a less than helpful lawyer, where a medical professional, went to court against William and helped throw out the bacteria that William beat, where only 10 % of people survive according to epidemiology. This is a short list of how unfair William has been treated as a child, teenager, young adult, man, and older adult.
However, the hugs, the FLOWERS (his favorite to have around him), and quality respectful time shared with others, prevails the bad. Negativity loses, where POSITIVITY WINS, all day, every day.
