Goose's Parents

Both of my parents were born during the great depression.  Because of this, they saved every penny they made, with my dad and his self owned businesses, as well as, my mother's expert seamstress skills, they did well.

My parents purchased a decent sized lot in The Whaling City of New Bedford, Massachusetts and began, for the first time in their lives, in their early thirties, constructing the house I was first brought home to.

It has always been a dream of mine to purchase this house, from a now elderly family, that purchased the home around 1972, as they still own the home that my parents built with their, 'House built by Goo Goo and Del novice skills'.

The idea of the in law apartment above it came about when my mother's sister was diagnosed with cancer. Her sister was the oldest woman of twelve children and my Va Voa (grandmother who spoke little broken English and was born in USA, but only spoke, primarily Portuguese.  My Aunt Eria (oldest female) of whom I remember visiting and being told about the benefits of bananas and potassium, would stay above them when she was diagnosed with cancer.
